A Hunger Only God Can Satisfy
(715 words, 4 minutes read time.)
Close your eyes for a few minutes…
Walk through the Gospel.
Meet those whose lives Jesus changed.
Then let Him speak to you personally.
“Through the Fields to Jesus”
‘Ello Lad/Lassie! I’m Shelly!
I’m ready to take you to Him! Are you ready?
Off we go!
Through the fields!
Look! The lepers He healed!
“Hello! He is amazing! A mighty prophet indeed!”
(Say the lepers)
On we go!
“Look! Jairus, whose daughter Jesus raised from the dead!”
“Yes! I owe everything to Him! He is my Lord!”
“Hold back nothing with Him!”
(Says Jairus)
Well, let’s carry on!
Look! It’s Mary Magdalene!
“Hello, friend! You’re going to see Him?”
“He saved my life! He is my whole reason for living! I follow Him as my Lord and only want to proclaim what He’s done for me!”
We’d better carry on!
Ah!
Here He is!
Waiting just for you!
(Jesus) “My child, I have loved you from all eternity and have been waiting for this moment.”
“My Heart has longed for the day when you would draw near to Me.”
“Will you sit down?”
“Let Me tell you what I will do for you and each soul waiting for Me.”
“I will be betrayed by My own friend and Apostle.”
“Love held Me there.”
“I will be carried away like a criminal by soldiers with whips and swords.”
“All for love.”
“I will receive an unjust trial before Pilate and the Jewish leaders.”
“This is how much I love you.”
“I will be scourged and beaten until My Body is torn and bleeding.”
“Love held Me there.”
“Crowned with thorns so deep they pierce My head.”
“All for love.”
“I will be forced to carry a cross so heavy that I will stumble beneath its weight and drag it to Golgotha.”
“This is how much I love you.”
“After much suffering, repeated falls, and the gashing of My shoulder, I shall reach the hill.”
“Love held Me there.”
“They throw Me down upon the Cross and stretch out My arms until they dislocate.”
“All for love.”
“They force My hands down and hammer nails into My wrists.”
“This is how much I love you.”
“They force each foot on the Cross and hammer nails through My feet.”
“Love held Me there.”
“They lifted Me up on the Cross, and I could hear the mocking and screaming of onlookers.”
“All for love.”
“I suffered three hours, gasping to breathe while bleeding out profusely.”
“This is how much I love you.”
“I finally gave up My spirit as My Father called Me.”
“All for love.”
“I opened the floodgates of mercy for you!”
“I descended to the nether world and set the just free!”
“On the third day, I rose from the dead in glory.”
“Forty days later, I ascended into Heaven.”
“Ten days later, on Pentecost, I filled My Apostles with My Holy Spirit and sent them to preach and set prisoners free!”
“One day, you will see the fullness of what My love has done for you.”
“I long for you to surrender yourself entirely to My love.”
“Will You receive Me?”
“I am waiting.”
“Will you let Me love you?”
(Jesus goes off to pray for you.)
(Shelly jumps in)
“Go! Sell all you possess for the treasure of great price!”
The salvation of your soul!
Friendship with Jesus!
Sonship with the Father!
All of Heaven is your home!
The company of all the saints!
Hear Him say: “Your sins are forgiven!”
“Your heart is healed!”
And: “You will be with Me in Paradise!”
Shelly: “Come. He is waiting!”
REFLECTION QUESTIONS:
As you walked through this imaginative pilgrimage, what touched your heart most?
Which person along the journey did you relate to—the leper, Jairus, Mary Magdalene, or another?
What words of Jesus spoke most deeply to your soul today?
If Jesus were sitting beside you right now, what would you want to say to Him? And what do you think He might lovingly say to you?
If this prayer blessed you, I’d love to hear your reflections in the comments. May we continue encouraging one another as fellow pilgrims on the journey to Christ.
