Communion Confusion
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be firm, steadfast, always fully devoted to the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. — I Corinthians 15:58 NAB
There is a saying: “He’s a brick!” Or, “She’s a brick!” It suggests that a person is dependable, solid, and not easily crushed or broken.
As we look at this path, each brick matters and is an integral part of the walkway. It dwells alongside the others, being counted on for a complete picture. No individual brick commands attention, but instead is part of a way that is leading somewhere.
Being a brick along the pathway also means being walked upon, putting up with weeds that grow in the crevices nearby, and sometimes being of a slightly different hue than the brick beside you.
PRAYER
Lord, I'm willing to be a brick in Your service. Make me dependable, solid, and resilient as I help lead others towards You.
QUOTE
“Let us then be steadfast and unmovable; and let us not be shaken in mind. For if we stand firm, even what seems small shall have great reward.”
— St. John Chrysostom, (c. 347 AD - 407 AD), Homily on 1 Corinthians 15
