In the presence of a Queen
Look closely at the Crucifix. You're not looking at just an ordinary man. You're looking at Salvation. Imagine going through what you're looking at. How many times have you cut your finger and winced in pain? This man suffered cruel gouges and cuts and blows to every single part of His body. His strife didn't end with a mere single cut. It went through every inch of skin and bone to the point of where you honestly have to ask yourself, "how did He do it?". For every sin committed from the beginning of time, to the present and even into the future, Our Lord sustained pain and blows that no normal human being could ever endure. It just kept going and going and going. From the top of His head to the bottom of His feet. From front to back. To where no point of His Precious body was denied scourging. No wonder He sweat drops of blood. In His anguish He knew. He is God. Yet, He was human. All for us and all humanity, He allowed this humility and suffering completely out of Love. How could we not obey and honor this God who was willing to lay down His life for us?
The Crucifix shows us many things. Humility, strength, obedience, but most of all, Love. The Love of a Father tending to His children in the highest form possible.
Look at the Holy Cross and feel His Love. See the sacrifice that He made for us. It is there we will see our Father. It is there we will see how to obey. It is there we will find strength. It is there we will see the reason for our existence.
