Superstition

     All of those crystals that you collect. All of those rabbit feet that you rub. All of those tarot cards that you believe will predict your life's path, are all tools of the evil one. They are superstition. Stepping on a crack will surely not break your mother's back. Do not believe the evil ones snares. Because these are just a few of his tactics to get you to become obsessed with his ways. 

     Jesus Christ came so that we may believe in "His" ways. It starts with the "way" of the Cross. Everything else is false. It promotes fear, where the words and teachings and examples of Jesus Christ promote Peace. Our happiness does not depend on luck. It depends on our Surrender. To the God who has proclaimed from the very beginning that He is God and that He will take care of us. The rain pours down on the good and the bad. It is our choice to believe that no matter what happens, He will stand before us with His loving embrace and protection. 

     Our hearts can even be breaking, yet, offering up that moment, that suffering, He will send us comfort, greater than our sorrow. 

     Saint Therese of Lisieux, is such a phenomenal example of this. She suffered greatly, as did many Saints. The difference in their suffering, was their Joy in Surrender. It is a hard task. Seeming almost impossible, but yet, a new day comes. Our struggles are seen by a God who is asking us to give Him ourselves totally to Him. We are a stiff-necked people. Unwilling to surrender all that He has given us. We act entitled and like children who throw a tantrum when we don't get what we want. We forget who really is in charge and who was the One who gave it to us. I myself, must be reminded of this daily. I thought just last night, how wonderful it feels to have the burdens of worry lifted off of my shoulders. I thought of how heavy God's shoulders must feel after one gives it all to Him, but yet, He is still willing to take it and carry it. It made me love Him even more. He is willing to die a million times for His people. For the return of one lost soul. 

     In our prayer today, let us pray for that total surrender to God's Holy Will. No matter how difficult. Remembering that the more challenging it is, the more He loves us.
