Does Your Schedule Make it Hard to Go to Daily Mass? Try These Tips
Going to Adoration is one of the most amazing and beneficial things that we can do as Christians, and one of the coolest things is that many of us have the privilege to do it whenever we please, or at least during times when our churches schedule specific hours for it whenever we are near ones that do not have a 24/7 Adoration chapel. However, much like other parts of life, there are times when it simply falls through the cracks in our brains, and we put it off.
While that is not an uncommon thing, we need to remember that going to Adoration and sitting in the presence of the Lord is a gift in the sense that not everyone has the option to do it. It is something that we must not place at the bottom of our to-do list, and it is definitely not something we should abandon entirely. Nevertheless, we all tend to lose the motivation to go to Adoration from time to time. However, there are some things someone can do to help themselves whenever they encounter times like that.
Think Of It Like Visiting A Loved One
Whenever we feel that we are too busy, tired, or even too depressed to go to Adoration, one of the things that can help is thinking about it as if you’re going to visit a friend or a family member. After all, that really isn’t wrong. Going to visit God means that we are going to visit our father.
Additionally, something to take into consideration when you think about Adoration like that is the fact that there are tons of benefits we can enjoy when we go see our loved ones. For example, those who do that often experience a decrease in stress and anxiety as a result. Now imagine how much more true that is when we go adore our Lord!
You Do Not Have To Do Anything
Some people, especially new Catholics or those who left the faith for a bit but then came back, become a little overwhelmed at the thought of going to Adoration. This can result in them losing motivation to go, and it sometimes happens because they are uncertain of what they should be doing while they are there.
However, one thing a person needs to know if that is something that’s keeping them from going to Adoration is that it is actually fine if they do absolutely nothing. While some pray, read scripture, or listen to things like Gregorian chants, others just soak in the moment. What really matters is that we make the effort to sit in the presence of Jesus.
While sometimes losing the drive to drop in and enjoy Adoration for a bit is understandable and is something that pretty much happens to everyone, it is a great idea to push ourselves to get up and do it anyway. In fact, in my opinion, those are times when we might actually need to do it the most. Therefore, if you find yourself experiencing that kind of thing, and you desire to stay home more than to adore Jesus, just try remembering that it is essentially the same thing as visiting a friend or a family member, and that you will reap great benefits from it once you get there.
