The days of finding peace are no longer possible;

Unless we have a relationship with Christ and the type of peace we shall find that is in our heart.  When Jesus hung on the Cross at Calvary the only semblance of peace that would come was on Easter Sunday; Jesus rose and brought with him the guarantee of resurrection for each one of us.   That is treasure that cannot be ignored.   

Somehow the understanding of peace on the mind of man is no more guns, people always asking one another how their day has been going rather than keeping an eye on them to see if they were contemplating violence.  And the obvious warning has always been to watch what you say might just infuriate another person and enhance anger.  

From the very beginning of human existence man has always had the idea of holding onto whatever he had acquired at any cost not allowing someone else to come in and steal it.  In a world of finding and holding onto any type of treasure has always been man’s prime desire of keeping it away from anyone who might just want go steal all of it.  An  interesting quote that Jesus told his disciples was;  Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroys, and thieves break in and steal.  But store up treasures in heaven where neither moth nor decay destroy, nor thieves break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.  (Mt 6: 19 - 21).  

Even though Jesus was implying the understanding of keeping our mind on what spiritual equalities in heaven was all about, the quest by man is to let these words just fall away when earthly treasures seem to have an attraction that man cannot do without.

There is a fundamental difference between wealth and peace using the Hebrew term Shalom.   Wealth involves temporary material accumulation.  Shalom represents profound inner wholeness.  (an overview from AI on the internet).  If one wonders why religious orders tell their members to adhere to poverty, chastity, and obedience, the obvious is to seek heaven without an empty desire to have more than we need in life.  That of course is too much that restricts what humans want for their lives.  But we are just visiting this planet and should be working through a spiritual desire to find what lies on the other side of the grave. 

The very premise of the Incarnation that Christ chose was to bring forgiveness to mankind and prepare for an eternal existence with the Holy Trinity.  However, the very thought that man seems to have absorbed is to find treasures that begin with M (money at any cost).

Some people have requested to have their money buried with them as this became the only sustenance they ever sought while still breathing.  How sad that wealth became the only vision of what human life is all about.  

Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides.  Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.  Sufficient for a day is its own evil.  (Mt 6: 33 - 34).
