The Magnetude of Faith
I was watching a podcast with Colton Burpo, the real life boy, from the movie " Heaven is for real ". He was just 3 years old (almost 4) when he experienced his near-death medical emergency in 2003. He is now 25 years old. He spoke of the beauty he experienced when so little, of the Wonders and Majesty of Heaven. It was so beautiful to hear him recall it. All of the things he saw and heard and remembered, to give an account for earth's ears to hear. The one thing that stood out to me the most, is how he, as a four-year-old, told how he walked with Jesus and sat on His lap. At one point, he says he asked Jesus why His hands and feet were marked, and Jesus bent down to his level and replied so sweetly, "to help me remind me of how much I love you".
That one sentence struck me with such love for Jesus more than I could ever imagine. There, a child, in all innocence, asks a simple question to our Lord, and our Lord's response is perfect. Helping that young and tender mind to understand, that those marks on His hands and feet were proof that Jesus is all Love.
The Sacred Wounds of Jesus are symbolic and most reverent. The Sacrifice of the offerings of bread and wine transformed into Body and Blood, give honor to those marks that Jesus bore, willingly, to God His Father and for all humanity. The ransom for all of our souls.
We should honor the Precious Wounds of Jesus Christ daily. Remembering, that He suffered and sacrificed His whole body in torment, for our sins.
We kiss the wounds of Jesus Christ, with sorrow deep and true. We must never ever forget what He did for us and rejoice in such a good and gracious God, who would do anything for us, even to the point of death.
Most Holy Wounds of Jesus Christ, cleanse us of our sins. Instill in our souls a Love for You that will allow us to die to ourselves and reside within each wound that you bore for us.
