The Daniel Fast
Every now and then, (more often than I'd like to admit), I have to be reminded what it means to Surrender. I have to be reminded that if I surrender, then that means my job is done. It means I hand the reigns over to God and now God is in charge. All the begging, fretting, and pacing is done. I'm, in so many words, "free". Free from worry and sleepless nights. I move over so that God can work. I give it to the boss. I won't deny that I'm a fighter, in what I think is right or wrong. I will always stand firm on my beliefs of God's teachings and His instructions of life. I'm talking about when it comes to people. I must let Him take care of that. Bishop Fulton Sheen said once, " you might not always be able to "like", but you can always "love". And in so many cases, Love is all ones left with, when you don't see eye to eye. When it comes down to that, I must always agree to disagree but still love. When someone is so obstinate to the point of craziness, or unreasonableness, that's when I step back. If I have used up all effort to help them see the light, that is my cue, that this is bigger than me and must rely on prayer to ring to the Heavens with a call for "help", and then just wait to see the answer. The answer always comes back the same. "Surrender it to me". "Me"', meaning God. That's the boss I'm talking about. Anyone who does not listen, should listen. Let Him take care of it and He will. Don't look for your timing, your placement of the day or hour. Just Surrender.
I am talking to myself more than anyone, about this. I need constant reminders that the world is going to keep spinning without me. The load that lifts off of my shoulders is so wonderful. It gives me time to smell those roses that I hear everyone talking about .....and oh! how I love roses!
