What happens when you ask a Saint?

     Do you have a favorite Saint? Maybe you have many favorite Saints. Someone you have come across from Heaven, that you can truly relate to. There's hundreds of them for every need and desire one could possibly think of. There's those for addiction. Those for artists and doctors and philosophers. Some are for astronomers, for purity and faithfulness to the Cross. One thing, it seems, that All Saints have in common, was the struggle. None of the roads they traveled were met with ease. They either had to bear falsehood, or fear, or some other cross in "their" struggle for Heaven. Some had to be shown the path many times. Over and over. Some had to be tried like gold in fire and some had to suffer physically before they reached the Pearly Gates. No road to goodness is easy. Because of the thorns the evil one strews on the ground for our feet to tread. The more thorns, the more the right direction is sought and found. It's obvious to one, that the call for help is necessary. When that call is asked, for the assistance of the trial, the Saints are ready and willing to help. St Theresa sends roses. Miracles of all sorts are seen, and the Saints rejoice at our noticing. They are our friends. Our mutual companions. When we open our hearts to their help, they are elated in going to work for us. Just as they did when alive and walked upon the earth. Our ears and eyes must stay vigilant on the good and pray we are not duped by false inclinations. Their gaze upon us is mystifying and can cause confusion if not met with a pure heart. We question and get confused at the back and forth product of our prayer if we don't stay in the state of Grace. 

    When we ask the Saints to guide us or help us in our feebleness, they clear out the fog of the air that makes it hard for us to see. They help clear our path. They come to our rescue. These great people have been created just for us as they were for each other. All in God's likeness. Showing us the many faces of God and His relatability to His Creation. 

     The Saints are ours to help us. Let them. You won't be disappointed. Today we ask St Teresa of Benedicta. She was born with the name Edith Stein. A brilliant, German Jewish philosopher and martyr, who died at Auschwitz. She's another great example of a Saint with courage. Need some courage? She's the Saint for you!
