Who Said That? Who Said That?
Digging Deep into the Word
Every morning we come to the table, ---to feast off the Word of God. Or at least we should. We know how essential it is to eat food to have the ability to function the rest of the day. More important is the consumption of that Spiritual Food or the Word of God to sustain us through all that will come into our lives each day. I hope that every person knows that it is YOU that those Words speak to when you read what God has so carefully inspired, protected and had written.
I have two books—one “Psalms” which is just that, all the 150 Psalms ready to open to. The other is the Bible sitting on my table. This morning I opened to Psalm 84 and was reading it aloud to my husband. As I did, the Holy Spirit inspired my heart to see the message for us given that day.
Psalm 84--How lovely Your dwelling, O LORD of hosts!a
(The BEST Place ever to be!!)
3My soul yearns and pines for the courts of the LORD.b
(Do, I really yearn and pine to be in His courts? God knows that human I am, so truthfully—not always. That explains why there is some discontent then—doesn’t it?)
My heart and flesh cry out for the living God.
(Yes, our flesh does cry out—and the heart too, as any pain is felt, any sorrow comes our way.)
4*As the sparrow finds a home and the swallow a nest to settle her young,
My home is by your altars, LORD of hosts, my king and my God!c
(Those who are totally dependent on Nature for survival –know without question their need for God’s care or Nature’s abundance to provide. So obediently they do as they were created to do—they live---being the creature they were born to be. We could learn from their example. )
5Blessed are those who dwell in your house! They never cease to praise you.
(Reading this line---I am reminded "Blessed are we who have God dwelling within our hearts." Scripture tells us too, when we praise God---He enters into the temple --which should be the being who we are. So let us stop the whining and give Him Praise and thanks--always!)
6Blessed the man who finds refuge in you, in their hearts are pilgrim roads.
(A pilgrim draws purposely away to seek the refuge, the Presence of God at a Holy Place. Where is our Holy Place that we can go to on a daily basis? There is church and Mass—but even in our homes we should have a sacred place set up for prayer and solitude.)
7As they pass through the Baca valley,* they find spring water to drink.
The early rain covers it with blessings. 8They will go from strength to strength* and see the God of gods on Zion.
(Baca Valley is a place of tears or the ‘vale of tears’ and as we go through any ‘tearful time, of sorrow and struggle;’ the Holy Spirit reminded me of Springs of Living Water. When we seek the Waters of Life or Jesus’ Words—we are given the strength we need to carry any cross we are given.
9LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer; listen, God of Jacob.
10*O God, watch over our shield; look upon the face of your anointed.
(Before God can hear our prayers---prayers must first be lifted up to Him, without ceasing, and with a thankful humble heart—surrendering all, rejoicing—knowing that God will keep His promises.)
11Better one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.
Better the threshold of the house of my God than a home in the tents of the wicked.
(There is NO PLACE on this earth that can compare to being where God is!! Time spent with Him, is better than 2 hours in front of a television or on a computer or I-phone wasting time. In His Presence, is definitely better than anywhere where we are serving the gods of pleasure. What worldy pleasure has become an addiction, keeping us from being able to see others, help others and serve our Lord: and serving/loving others? Do we even see them as addictions?)
12For a sun and shield is the LORD God, bestowing all grace and glory.
The LORD withholds no good thing from those who walk without reproach.
13O LORD of hosts, blessed the man who trusts in you!
(The Sun gives life and protects us from death, for we would never be able to live without those rays of warmth and light that enables all of creation to exist. That was why the first to be created was Light!! May that sun be a constant reminder of God’s love, mercy and grace which enables us to have life and life eternally. Blessed indeed is the man who trusts in You oh My God! As the sun rises daily, may we arise daily to give God thanks and praise that He is so worthy of.)
“Beloved of God---seek ye the Lord, while He still may be found! Daily He waits for your coming to the Table, to the feast of Heaven and earth!”
