A Righteous Rebuke of Herodias Healey

Can anyone think of a greater rebuke of Governor Maura (Herodias) Healey’s edict for the slaughter of the innocents than Karoline Leavitt’s choice of motherhood over career?   Let us also be reminded that the Mother of God, also Our Blessed Mother, embraces that title above all the others in the Litany honor.ing her in myriad ways.

The name Herod  (and the Herodian dynasty) conjures up the worst of mankind’s assault on innocent life.   From Herod the Great who ordered the slaughter of children under two—in a vain attempt to kill the Son of God—to his descendants including Herod of Antipas whose related Herodian princess wife (Herodias) would connive the execution of St. John the Baptist,  this tyrannical clan wreaked demonic havoc on Jews and then Christians.  Ironically, historians contend that they were not themselves wholly Jewish though Herod of Antipas claimed to have been a convert.  Today, this reminds us of those who wield terrorizing governmental power while proclaiming their Catholicism.  In reality, they are betrayers of Truth and Love.

 
When Catholic baptized Maura Healey recently signed into civil law the right of a mother to execute her child even up to the moment of birth, the faithful were rightfully deeply sorrowed and outraged.  Already proudly and openly “gay,” Healey soaked in the applause of numerous smiling vixen women around her signature desk.  At least Herod had a glint of conscience to be anxious about beheading St.John the Baptist.  It does not matter if no child is actually ever murdered by this legislation, the spirit of its license again relegates the pre-born—and, in reality, the born—to a second class citizenship that denies their right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” based solely on their inability to defend themselves.  Worst of all, again the so-called peacemaker female legislators are the worst enemies of their own offspring.  Many of us senior citizen well recall the celebratory cry of the earlier feminists of the 1960s who insisted that by mere virtue of their sex, they were better able to end wars and nurture society.  

 
However, thank you, sweet Jesus, that there are powerful women who embrace the fullness of their femininity and role as wife and mother to best impress upon a wayward generation that, indeed, these premiere roles overarch the emptiness and evil of sheer brutal dominance in the civil affairs of the State.  Karoline Leavitt just announced that she will be leaving her most prestigious post as Press Secretary to be the best mother possible to her two small children.  No other woman in the current Presidency or any time in recent memory, has ascended to such power as Karoline Leavitt who most ably and confidently performed her duties with acumen, wit, and razor focus.  Yet, she equally gracefully and effectively surrendered that post to uplift the nobility of a much greater challenge, rearing children in a dangerous and increasingly atheistic  world.  How very blessed are her children to have such a mother.  

 
Karoline Leavitt also accomplished one other marvelous feat with her dignified resignation from the world to ruling the hearth.  In one fell sweep she dispelled the stench of the hellish Healey decree.  When historians reflect on womanhood in the 21st century, Catholics among them will elevate  Leavitt’s heroic decision as nullification of the despicable, cowardly stroke of the pen by Healey.   Moreover, Catholics everywhere should ensure that their children learn of the power of God as found in Leavitt’s choice over that of the cowardly females who grasp at notoriety and crowd adulation.   When I am tempted to fume over the Healey’s of our present tumultuous and sinful society, I am so bolstered by the images off  a boisterous Karoline Leavitt who did not even blink when choosing the most fruitful  life.  It is likely that she may well have her “moments,” but  being so wise beyond her years, she will lean on God and trust.   

 
Like 2,000 years ago, a simple Virgin Mary quietly reared the Son of God, Jesus Christ and walked with Him all the way to the Cross.  In superb ethereal confidence, Mary never wavered but endured what was certainly pity, at best, but perhaps also scorn,  among her peers.  In the end and for all time, Mary, Mother of God and Our Blessed Mother, rose to the title of Queen of Heaven for now and all eternity.  May more and more women chose the path of authentic humility, obedience and allegiance to God’s Word.  May they choose the path of royalty that places them as princesses at the table of plenty for all times.  May they choose genuine conversion and a place in the perfect family rather than foolishly and vainly scrambling for all too brief and hollow success a fleeting world.
