Fulton Sheen sadly "succumbed," like many other princes of the Church, to the progressives at Vatican II who wanted "the Church to get along with the world!"

"If you want to find Christ today, then find the Church that does not get along with the world.  Look for the Church that is hated by the world as Christ was hated by the world. Look for the Church, which is accused of being behind the times, as Our Lord was accused of being ignorant and never having learned."  (Fulton Sheen, Radio Replies, Volume 1, 1938)

In the 1930s and 40s, Fulton Sheen was a "lion of doctrine & tradition." In the 50s, he had a hit television show. But in the late 60s and 1970s Fulton Sheen had unfortunately yielded to Vatican II's quest for the Church's new "openness to the modern world," which Our Lady of Good Success in the 16th century "forewarned" would occur in her Church in the mid 20th century, the time of Vatican II.  Indeed, Pope Paul VI and his crew of progressive bishops at the Council - sought the passing of creeds and dogmas in the name of "aggiornamento" that is "modernization" and "dialogue" with the world. Yes, the Council's stated goal was to "conform to the values of the world" and its religions in order to maintain harmony and avoid conflict. That professed mission was clearly pronounced by Pope Paul VI himself in his closing speech at the Council.

2 Thessalonians 2:15: “Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle.”

It should be noted that the "progressive quagmire" of Vatican II stood in opposition to "every" bi-millennial tradition of the Church, such as the Church's "condemnation" of "religious liberty," that Fulton Sheen "ardently supported" as did "every" post-Conciliar pope, including Pope John Paul II, "very sad" to say but "true!"

In Fulton Sheen's case, please be apprised that during the Council, Sheen contributed to the "passage" of the Declaration on Religious Liberty, in which Fr. John Courtney Murray - an American Jesuit - played an important role supported by the American Bishops. Sheen "applauded" the Council Prelates because “they generally followed the American Bishops and their stress on religious liberty” (see Fulton Sheen's Autobiography, p 293).

Like many American Prelates of the time, Fulton Sheen "championed freedom of religion and liberty of conscience" as established in the Declaration of Independence of our country, a very "liberal position" that had earned the "condemnation of pre-Conciliar Pontiffs," such as Pope Pius VI who was a contemporary of the French Revolution when "religious liberty" was first installed as a civil right! Pope Pius VI was quite explicit in his unqualified condemnation of "religious liberty" - that Pope Paul VI "vigorously supported," like Fulton Sheen.

Pope Pius VI called "religious freedom" a "monstrous right" and an "imaginary dream!" (Pius VI, Brief Quod aliquantum, of March 10, 1791, in Recueil des Allocutions, Paris: Adrien Leclere, 1865, pp. 53-55)

Moreover, Fulton Sheen became a "pioneer" in another salient issue "condemned" by pre-Conciliar Pontiffs, "interconfessional relations," which includes non-Christian religions and Pagan religions.

Regrettably every post-Conciliar pope was involved in said relations, especially Pope John Paul II, due to Vatican II's reinterpretation of Ecumenism. One of many examples of John Paul II's "interconfessional relations" took place on August 1,2002 at a Novus Ordo Mass said by him. During that Mass John Paul II was 'blessed' in a pagan ritual at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mexico City. The ritual was executed by Zapotec Indians from the State of Oxaca in a ceremony celebrating the beatifications of Juan Battista and Jacinto de los Angeles, two Catholic Indians who shed their blood for the defense of the Catholic Faith. How "demonically deranged" was that event!

The Church in her wisdom, prior to Vatican II, "condemned" such "interfaith relations."

One of the most notable historical examples of a pope "condemning interfaith relations" comes from Pope Pius IX in the 19th century. In his 1869 encyclical Singulari quidem, he strongly opposed what he called “religious indifferentism” — a term used to describe ecumenism or interreligious dialogue that, in his view, undermined the Catholic Church’s mission to proclaim the unique truth of the Gospel.

Fulton Sheen "did not agree with the teaching" of Pope Pius IX that the Catholic Church's mission to proclaim "the unique truth of the Gospel" would be in anyway "undermined" by embracing "interreligious dialogue" a.k.a. "religious indifferentism" as is evidenced in Sheen's autobiography Treasure in Clay, p. 148, where he writes: "The good Hindu, the good Buddhist, the good Confucianist, the good Moslem are all saved by Christ and not by Buddhism or Islam or Confucianism - but through their sacraments, their prayers, their asceticism, their morality, their good life."

That claim by Sheen is obviously "not in accord with" what Scripture teaches! Can you imagine for a moment Saint Paul or any of the Apostles making such a claim? No indeed, but here we have Fulton Sheen giving his "full endorsement" to the heresy of "universal salvation" as Pope John Paul II later did, followed by Pope Francis and now Pope Leo doing the same!

If only the Council Fathers, had followed Saint Paul's instruction for the Church and Fulton Sheen had observed what he believed "prior to Vatican II" - when he was "a lion of doctrine & tradition," and he refused to "adapt the Catholic religion to the modern world," the Church would not be in the "State-of-Emergency" she finds herself in today - with Pope Leo joining forces with Marxist Revolutionaries, and allowing LGBTQ+ Catholics to parade around Saint Peter's Basilica, and appointing many pro-LGBTQ+ bishops to high profile positions at the Vatican and throughout the Church.

God help us with Leo sitting in the "Chair of Peter." The only remedy at this point - to the unprecedented "diabolical disorientation" within the Church from "the top down" as "foretold" by Our Lady of Akita is "direct Heavenly intervention!" PERIOD!

As an aside, it definitely felt like the "French Revolution in the Church" in the aftermath of Vatican II, while I was in the seminary from 1968-1975 with the SMA Fathers (Society of African Missions).
