The Carmelite Order
Driving through the dusty gravel roads, headed to the farm, gives you a Peace like none other. The winding gaze of crops of corn and soybeans, makes you feel your escape from the rat race of the city. Where everyone is in such a hurry. Red lights and waiting lines of traffic, unsettles the Peace that can only be found by escaping to the land of intermittent farm houses and the sky that grows with full view and radiant sunsets.
Dave and Rhonda, my beloved dearest friends give me that escape. Everything they have has been built from the ground up. Dave, being the master architect and landscaper, that he is, built their underground house with his own two hands. The flowers and trees and rocks have been placed in perfect formation to remind me of what a Garden of Eden would look like. Rhonda keeps the fire burning as wife and mother while working each day in town. Driving back each day, to the open arms of a loving husband, whom she greets, with dirt on his hands and sweat on his brow, after his full days work was also done. Time has settled down a bit and they are both able to enjoy the fruits of their labor... Together, they built this farm. They built their family. They built their Love. At their house, there are two sets of loving arms to greet me and hug me tight when I arrive. With smiles that are worth a million pieces of gold. They emit love and genuine friendship that has lasted for 40 years. I treasure them back, with all my heart. The strength they both possess is evident in their Love for each other and it inspires me to Love more. To be more thankful, that God, in all His Love, that He has for each of us, has given me true friends and His Holy Face in theirs.
God has blessed me with these two. I am grateful to Him for showing me what Love really means. It was and is found on a farm, not too far away yet close enough to feel.
