If someone was threatening someone you love, would you not vehemently defend them?
Living a Christian life can be hard. It can cause us to wonder. Wonder if we want to be all-in, just do enough to get by, or disregard the whole Christian way of life. Yes, God wants our love, but more-so He wants to love us. He wants to love us fully. And love is only complete when it is met with love.
If we go all-in and love God with everything, surely there will be trials. Jesus assured us of that. But, Jesus also assured us peace. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” – [John 14:27] If our hearts dwell on the Lord and His tremendous love for us, how could they be troubled or afraid?
Jesus also promised to lighten our burdens. “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” Knowing God’s love for us will lighten any of our burdens.
Many of the demands of Christianity seem hard and at times daunting. But if we are focused on love, it makes everything easier. Jesus can provide us the grace for everything to be easier. Surely, His love for us will.
