Jesus Christ – His Mission On Earth – Part 4

In part 4 of this article, I would like to continue to explore the role of the Church in society.

The local Churches should not create a large bank roll and then keep begging for more money. Out of the local parish and diocesan collections should come enough money to sustain themselves and the balance used to care for all parishioners. The money is not to be invested in land or other schemes to create more wealth. In essence, the Kingdom of God (the Church) should be total love of God and the people they serve.

If the Church wishes to serve people in foreign countries the best way to serve these people in their own country. Mass immigration is extremely costly to a nation such as ours. Our national debt is staggering. Our Church should not be looking for a handout from our government. We should be looking for funding from people with six figure incomes. I am sure that they can afford it although they might claim an affordability issue. Another reason for working in their home countries is the price tag. More than likely, it is cheaper to work in foreign counties than to import them here. Besides that, they are with their families in surroundings that need no adjustments in their personal and cultural life especially language.

One must also take into consideration that some cultures will not mesh with Christianity and Western Civilization. The word 'Christianity' means love. The word 'Islam' means submit especially to sharia law. We believe in Constitutional law. Unless you can assimilate with our culture and laws, you do not belong here. I believe Saint Thomas Aquinas had some things to say about that. My father, his parents and grandparents along with my mother's parents and grandparents were all immigrants to this country. They had no problems becoming American citizens, and they were both proud of their heritage and the new life in their adopted country. Another belief system or culture that does not mesh with Christianity is socialism, communism, or as they describe it today as democratic socialism. Take a look back at the twentieth century for all the examples of this manifestation.

One other thought has crossed my mind. The Medicaid fraud must be halted. The Church should assume the burden of healthcare for the poor as I stated earlier. With proper oversight from the government, let those who cannot afford medical insurance be insured by the Church. Medicaid can then be cut. I believe that fraud will drop to zero when people are dealing with God through the Church. Keeping people honest and moral would then be the Church's responsibility and not our government.

John F. Kennedy once said, “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.” Now is the time for that action.
