The Significance of the Sacred Holy Host of Jesus

     Do you truly believe that Jesus is most present in the Sacred Host of Communion? You should. Because it is a gift given by Him to us. He is truly present in this Holy food that He has given us freely. 

     I just listened to a most profound teaching about the significance of the Sacred Host of Jesus in Communion. Of a phenomenon of its preciousness and what it could mean if it adheres to the roof of your mouth after receiving. Father Chad Ripperger, a well-known Catholic exorcist and priest from "the Catholic Messenger"radio show, spoke about what to do if this should happen to you. He answers questions that have arisen in my own mind, as this keeps happening to me and never ever did before. I was taught to never touch the Eucharist, once received in your mouth, with your fingers because of the significance of it being God that you just welcomed. Communion is very important to me, but now, I treasure it even more. 

     Father Ripperger said, that if the Sacred Host of Jesus sticks to the roof of your mouth, do not panic and to understand that it is Jesus telling us that He wants to linger as long as He can within us in our Souls. The connection of His presence to our Soul is a gift. A gift that should not be taken lightly. He may want to talk to you a little longer in a more significant way in the one on one Union that has just happened after receiving Him. How wonderful our God is! Listening to His voice within the busy loud walls of our minds is difficult enough in this busy, loud world of ours. The evil one tries to drown out His voice with thoughts of pleading and desperation and distractions, that we so many times go to our Lord with. Jesus awaits to talk to us, and after receiving Him in Communion, is our best chance to hear His voice clearly. 

     How many times, our hearts long for that Peace and quiet of a secluded retreat. Somewhere where we can actually hear our thoughts and the gentle voice of a God who is so willing to enter into our Souls, into our minds. He is so close to us in Holy Communion. He is there. He is present, right within our very being. 

     Do not receive our Lord in haste. Do not take for granted this Holy Supper you are privileged to attend. The food at the banquet is delicious and satisfying. Making one want for nothing more. Not even dessert. 

     Listen to Him speak to you. He loves you and me. He wants to feed us with His words of Hope and Peace. He is there. He has invited us to "His" Holy banquet. Don't rush through it and enjoy the benefit of His Precious Love. 

     He is the Host of our hearts. We are His guests. RSVP to the greatest table of satisfaction that could ever be. You will walk away sated and full.
