When Our Time Comes To say Goodbye
Questions, questions, and what are the answers? When does Jesus speak to us? How is He heard? And how can we believe it is really Him? We have all been there, wondering and wanting to be close to Him. How can we deepen our relationship with Him?
As I near my 87th Birthday, I have spent the last forty years inching my way closer to Him. I taught CCD for a few years; I was an “adorer” when the Monstrance was exposed on the Altar. I frequented the sacraments, have written many books of faith, have written for Catholic365 for the past three years, and have been praying the rosary every day with my husband for the past 6 months.
Moreover, at six and a half years of age, following vaccinations required to be registered for First grade, I developed a serious infection and came close to death; this was in 1946, before Penicillin was available to the population. I prayed with the rosary in hand and experienced a miraculous healing through Jesus. I was healed and went on to grow and develop much like other children my own age. The full story can be found in my book, “Conversations With And Messages From JESUS.”
To answer the above questions to my knowledge, experience, and understanding, God speaks only to those who are prayerful, love Him, and remain in the state of grace gained through frequenting the sacraments with sincerity and a promise not to sin again. When God “speaks” to us, He is not heard audibly. It is a fast-moving thought that crosses our mind; it is swift, and yet nothing that we were thinking about. That “Mind message” gives us information of wisdom. How can we accept that it is, indeed, Him speaking to us? We are. Because God knows and understands this, He may occasionally tell us something from the Bible that we have never heard before, and may find difficult to believe. This has happened to me. Jesus said, “I know every star in the heavens (there are millions) by name as I have named them all. This message was given immediately following Holy Communion at Mass. I felt I could not be certain that Jesus was speaking to me, especially when I found His message to be somewhat unimaginable. Why would He say that? I rushed home from Church, went to my Bible, and found the words of Jesus were true. In trying to reason why God would tell me something such as what Jesus told me about the stars, I felt it was so I could gain confidence in knowing a relationship with Him is possible, and, therefore, to gain more trust in Him as our relationship grew.
One of my spiritual advisors, a priest, once asked me, “How does God speak to you?” When I explained how, as I shared with you above, the priest smiled and said, “That is exactly how most visionaries have explained their messages from Jesus, just the way you did.”
I share this with you today to encourage all to know that Jesus wants to speak to you as well. We must remain in the state of grace, frequent the sacraments, and pray, preferably the rosary. Jesus never leaves us, although we have been known to stray from Him.
