From here to Eternity
Where ever you go I shall follow you; your God will be my God:
But Ruth said, “Do not ask me to abandon or forsake you! For wherever you go I will go, wherever you lodge I will lodge, your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Wherever you die I will die, and there be buried. May the Lord do so and so to me, and more besides, if aught but death separates me from you!” (Ru 1: 16 - 17). Words of a woman who was not born an Israelite yet fell in love with a people who knew who God was and followed them to the end. How many people in today’s world will give up a life of ignominy for something they know nothing about by rejecting the God most grew up with?
It isn’t a life of easy going or living in a rose garden and smelling the aroma of peace and freedom that never really graces their hidden success that collapses at every turn. What will it take to promote a truth in the minds of so many who have given up what is divine and holy for a chance to become one of so many who fall quickly because they have walked away from the Truth of divine grace that fails without faith.
Certainly most have grown as maturity blossoms in our minds only to be intimidated with a false sense of wealth that absolutely has no sustenance of being worth without a treasure that Christ
told his disciples; “Donot store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroys, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroy, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be." (Mt 6: 19 - 21).
Somehow Ruth learned very quickly centuries before Christ the very essence of his words. This is something that all of us need to adhere to when the temptation to do without spiritual understanding and seeking the very reason Christ Incarnated himself for our immortal souls.
These attributes of worship and praise are not just terms to be studied; they are words of everlasting life that all we need to receive them is trust in God and thankfulness for the Passion of Christ.
