HOW SIN SEPARATES US FROM GOD
It is shocking and unpredictable how we have experienced our country’s decline over the past few years. In fact, the entire world is also experiencing the same effects. In various degrees, we see and feel the devastation of massive floods sweeping away homes, cars, and businesses, including many thousands of lives. The economy doesn't seem to be recovering, and the threat of war appears imminent. There is senseless violence in neighborhoods, and many of us are without jobs or an income.
When we cannot fix what is broken, how do we proceed to face each new day? And how do we protect the future for our children and grandchildren? I have been around a long time and have never seen the world in such a condition. I am not a pessimist; I have always been an optimist. Yet, I must confess, we need the help of God; never have we needed Him more!
Let’s ask ourselves what we are doing to help return our world to what we once enjoyed and expected in each tomorrow we woke up to. Are we suggesting to our Pastor a day of prayer for God to help and show us how to heal? Are we praying the rosary as a family? Are the rich creating jobs for the poor? Are we extending a hand to our elderly neighbors? Are we teaching our children God’s Commandments, and what He desires from us? Are we forgiving, loving, and merciful? The Bible says we should be merciful; Clothe the naked, feed the poor, visit the sick. Is it us that God is losing patience with?
There are answers for as many questions as we can ask ourselves. Many of us are guilty. But we have today! It is also important that we elect those into office who are dedicated to God and to the people. We need more honesty, visibility, and caring for one another. Let us not sit back and say, “What can I do? I am one person?” You and I are two, and with our family and neighbors, the numbers quickly climb. Let’s pray together as never before; we need all the prayer we can gather to bring our pleas to God for His intervention.
I will see you in Church. God bless you and your family!
