JESUS THE BRIDEGROOM
How do we tell the difference between staying committed to a cause or action and when it makes sense to let go of our control and involvement? It is always a positive decision to reflect upon our choices; “What we are attempting to accomplish, why are we committed, and could this have become a negative expenditure of energy.
To feel confident, and positive with the choices we make, it is necessary to refer, to how we are influenced, and how we determine to continue, or if maybe, this not a commitment we ought to be involved in. Many examples of our previous experiences and the results of our effort can affect our choices. Exactly what the goal of our effort and the worthiness of our desired result can be definitely worth consideration.
An example might be a life and death scenario, an individual unconscious after a car crash, and the car erupts into flames. You are the only bystander, and this requires you to be committed to saving a life. Doing all you can do remove that person from the car does not require too much reflection, we simply go into action.
Another example is perhaps; Someone who is a neighbor and out of work needing food. You decide to help as much as you can. And after a period of time he/she does not seek work, does not seek professional help, and is often seen with alcohol and appears to be depressed or addicted. What would you do next? Perhaps offering to connect him with a free community system that is available and capable of treating the depression or addiction is the best choice as your help is not showing any benefit.
What then is the most positive and reliable system for knowing when to be committed, and when to QUIT IT? Our lives always should be designed to follow good common sense, and on top of that, to follow what Christ taught us by His word and example. There is an old saying that goes like this; “Regardless of what we do, or attempt to do, the results of that effort is up to God.” I like that because we cannot change anyone but ourselves. Prayer and professional help works best! Letting go or quitting is based upon understanding that our good intentions and effort has not provided positive results.
