Beatitudes

When I look at your face swollen disfigured and bloody

My eyes are filling with the  tears of pain

Why was i so uncaring cold and downright cruddy

I found out I lived my whole life in vain

I neglected to feed the unfortunate and hungry

When I walked down my road in a hurry

I forgot to give a drink of water to the thirsty

I left them all in the ditches where I walked

I didn’t walked my walk or talked my Christian talk

I left them in the ditches full of rubble and their refuse

I have no explanation

I have no excuse

You can judge me Lord

And anyway I know deep in my heart

That Your mercy reaches down from heaven

To the Earth

Picks me up and brushes of sin’s dust

From once a sinner I can become just

From the Mount you thought us how to live

You gave us The Way

Gave us the roadmap how to become Saints

How to receive and how to give

And from the other Mount You thought us how to forgive

I have nothing

What You have not given me

I can do nothing

What You did not enable me to do

I don’t know anything

You didn’t teach me

I can Not live without YOU
