Facing My Desert
Sit for a moment. Let the noise settle.
Picture your day: the inbox, the scroll, the comfort you reach for without thinking. Somewhere in that day is a gate and someone at it you've walked past without looking. Not cruelty. Just numbness.
Don't rush to fix that yet. Just see it.
Ask: Lord, who have I trained myself not to see?
Wait. Let an answer come, even if it's uncomfortable. A face. A name. A person you've made into background noise.
Now ask for something specific: not a plan, not a resolution. Ask God to pry your hands open. The jar of self-protection you're gripping without realizing it — ask Him to take it.
Sit with that request. Don't soften it into something manageable.
Close with this: Lord, break the numbness. Make me look up.
Stay there as long as you need to.
