As I look beyond the mist of Life, what is it that is calling me?
Can Hidden Feelings compromise our faith?
A lot will depend on how much we allow deep-rooted problems to get our attention. Unfortunately, there are too many unsolved difficulties within the lives of most people that by ourselves will not disappear without counsel from someone who knows what to look for. However, it is the trend of spiritual conditions that can appear to be solved just through prayer making us believe God has left us alone. The adage of “Let go and Let God” sounds better each time a problem keeps us up at night and the solution does not appear until we follow that rule.
One figurative solution that can erase the difficulties of sleepless nights is to pick up your bible and find the scripture passages where the Lord constantly spoke to his prophets when the obvious threats that their minds took over and they hid themselves from their dilemma.
Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done - that he had put all the prophets to the sword. Jezebel then sent a messenger to Elijah and said, “May the gods do thus and so to me if by this time tomorrow I have not done with your life what was done to each of them.” Elijah was afraid and fled for his life, going to Beer-sheba of Judah. He left his servant there and went a day’s journey into the desert, until he came to a broom tree and sat beneath it. He prayed for death: “This is enough, O Lord! Take my life, for I am no better than my fathers.” He lay down and fell asleep under the broom tree, but then an angel touched him and ordered him to get up and eat. He got up, ate and drank; then strengthened by that food, he walked forty days and forty nights to the mountain of God, Horeb. (1 Kgs 19: 1 - 5, 8).
The very same scenario lies in front of us as the problems we have mustered up in our mind are but a stone’s throw from the difficulty we have imagined. At the cave Elijah hid from the heavy winds, the earthquake, the fire, and the Lord was not in any of them. It wasn’t until a tiny whisper that he heard the voice of God and he went to the entrance of the cave and heard, “Elijah, why are you here?” (1 Kgs 19: 11 - 13).
Why have the problems that seem to confront our paranoid feelings when we will be sent through an angel we don’t see to move ahead and tackle the unseen problems that are just challenges we must accept and become the voice of God moving our faith as a battle cry to find grace that lasts unto victory.
It isn't the challenges that we can see that become too great to confront; it is the ones we seem to dream up and do not know how to take a stand and “Let Go and Let God.”
