Jesus summoned those He wanted
One of the most dangerous agendas of the synodal movement is the concept of INCLUSION… the idea that ALL people are invited to participate in the life of the Church, without requiring that they change what they believe or how they live. In the words of Pope Francis: “todos, todos, todos”.
It’s a concept that appears benign on the surface but is profoundly evil and destructive. Why?
Because the thing that keeps people from enjoying full communion in the Church is SIN, which by its very nature creates division. Sin separates us from God, from each other, from our freedom, from our nature, and from the life of the Church.
The Church does not “exclude” people or push them away. Rather, it is they who choose to separate themselves by clinging to beliefs and actions that are incompatible with the teachings of Christ. This is why the liberal forces within the Church want to eliminate Sin altogether… they see Sin as an obstacle to implementing their flawed vision of INCLUSION.
But if there is NO SIN, then there is no need for a REDEEMER; and if there is no Redemption, then the sacrifice of Christ was for naught; and if we eliminate Christ, then we have nothing left but darkness and death.
Prior to His Ascension, Our Lord told the Apostles that their fundamental mission was to gather the whole world for God… to unite, not divide:
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of ALL nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20)
But this “Great Commission” contained TWO parts, not just one. First, “make disciples” by preaching the Gospel; and second, teach the people to “observe all that I have commanded you”.
The problem is that those who are selling INCLUSION want the first part of that mission, but not the second. And yet, that is an essential part of our relationship with God, who reaches out to us in LOVE, but demands that we respond to Him in FAITH… a faith that heeds the call to convert our minds and hearts to the standards of the Church, NOT the other way around.
Those who are calling for INCLUSION want the Church to change HER ways so that everybody can enjoy the life she brings without the need for them to change theirs. But, the message of the Gospel has always been rooted on the opposite: not INCLUSION but CONVERSION, the admonition that it is WE, not the Church, who need to change our ways if we hope to belong to the Lord.
“REPENT, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” (Matthew 3:2)
Belonging to Christ requires that we follow the Good Shepherd wherever He leads, even when that path may be difficult and painful. Unfortunately, many false shepherds are leading the sheep astray by telling them that they can enjoy the fruits of the Lord’s sacrifice without drinking from His “Cup”.
Let us pray that those who are seeking to build a “synodal church” will themselves be converted, and realize that their mission is to affirm, and not corrupt, the never-changing teachings of the Church.
Enter through the narrow gate, for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction,
and those who enter through it are many. (Matthew 7:13)
