Oh Lord my God have you deserted me?
A darkness fills the chambers of my heart.
I look and see and think it cannot be.
Why did you let my life be torn apart?
How could a heart so new become so still?
How could a life so fresh not be made whole?
Why does my baby's skin have such a chill?
It seems your heart, my God, has turned to coal.
I long for you to weep for youthful death.
And trade her life for mine beneath the stone.
She never once inhaled a single breath.
What happened God? Don’t let me grieve alone.
It would be a relief to weep with you.
You wept for Lazarus. For her weep too.
