Come See the Shepherd
When morning light cracks the darkness of night;
When birds begin to sing their songs of life;
When morning star sheds its luminescence upon humanity;
Yes, when Christ has risen from the dead.
The stone’s rolled back;
There is no barrier: no cloaks stretched o’er his body.
The power of darkness, He has vanquished;
Within the tomb, only light remains.
Christ’s earthly mission is complete;
Death is conquered; His body glorified.
He is the Word of life; in Him the light of life-
The face of God made visible.
A grain of wheat has fallen to the ground:
A new beginning emerges; a church comes into being.
Because He promised, “I am with you always,”
His body now becomes The Mystical Body of Christ.
Each Eucharist, a fountain of Christ’s new life;
His flesh, the Bread of Life, brings joy and hope to us.
Day and life he unifies, continually renewing us with Him.
So we and He are one.
The angels on the tombstone sing:
“He has risen, just as He said.”
To Apostles, us disciples too,-
“Go quickly now, to spread the news.”
The Easter joy is bright indeed;
His body glorified; “Hosanna to the Son of David.”
A burning love, never extinguished,
And now it’s always day.
