You are loved before you do any good.
People may scare us with talk about the End Times or some terrible tragedy that could befall humanity. Sure, we need to be diligent, but we need to be ever more focused on our possible end. Our life could end at any moment. It happens all of the time. And no one has yet to live forever … apart from Jesus.
We need to ready our self for our eventual death. It could be a few minutes away or many decades away. We do not know. What we do know is we will eventually die. Better to be ready for it. We need to be spiritually ready for it. It has far greater implications than any life insurance policy that we could get here on Earth.
There is no time like the present to get ready or more ready. The consequences last for eternity. Heaven or Hell? Our choice for Heaven or Hell is made in every choice that we make, day-in and day-out. Are we choosing to get closer to God or get further from God?
Yes, it is an uncomfortable topic. Death. It comes for us all. It is inevitable. The only reason to fear death is if we are going to Hell. Indeed, some of the saints embraced death. Not that they were looking to die, but when faced with death they accepted it with faith that Jesus would take them to Heaven. Sure, it may be uncomfortable to think about, but it should get us to act like we should to reach our final goal, eternal happiness, which is only possible in Heaven.
