Isaiah's First Prophesies and Us
Sin, man knows much about; eclipse of the sun, not so much.
Eclipse:
When the sun’s light is hidden by the darkness of the moon;
When parts of the earth are darkened, even though it is midday;
When animals revert to their nocturnal habits;
When man questions: is it an act of divine providence?
Sin:
When the darkness of the soul is the opposite of the Light of the World; (1Jn1:5-6)
When the eye is bad and the body becomes full of the darkness of sin; (Matt16:23)
When men love the darkness rather than the Light for their deeds are evil; (Rom1:2)
When man does not come to the Light for fear his misdeeds will be exposed.(Jn3:19-20)
Sin is not a one- time thing;
Growing, it is ever darkening the landscape of life;
Darkening until it is black all around,
…”Leaving God who is Light; in Him there is no darkness.”
Darkness of sin is like being in a cave;
With the absence of light, a black world-
Seeing no pin of circular to signal an opening;
Recognizing by oneself, darkness will overpower one.
“You, O Lord, are good and forgiving,
Abounding in kindness to all.
Hear O Lord my prayer and attend to the sound of my pleading.
I have sinned.”
Hope, the currency of love:
Hope, in Someone greater than the darkness surrounding one;
Hope, that darkness over the world will be rolled back;
Hope, that crawling into the light will open eyes to the truth of sin.
Looking away from the bleak past of what was;
Seeking that which could be;
Moving from darkness into light thus
Transforming oneself from a life of sin into the light of God.
About 100 years ago was the last total eclipse of the sun.
About 100 years ago was the Dance of the Sun at Fatima.
About 100 years of sin, sorrow, war, darkness;
About time it is to become a walking headlight of the Lord.
