The Meal

Insignificant piece of bread;
A simple cup of wine;
A poor man’s humble repast?
Or Mystery, sublime.
Enigmatic words are said
Above a plate and cup.
Holding breath, we wait in awe
As we are called to sup.
Hands are folded, heads are bent;
We take our place in line.
What are we receiving?
Our Lord in bread and wine!.
What an invitation.
To share in the Divine.
To think my soul and Jesus
Can miraculously entwine.

About the Author
Born and raised in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Theresa spent the first nine years of her life on an island in Puget Sound. With no neighborhood children nearby, she depended on imaginary people to keep her company—thus her love of books.
