Nothing But the Blood of Jesus
Adam and Eve walked with God in the cool of the day. This image is refreshing, peaceful, and rather delightful, isn’t it? God is walking alongside Adam and Eve, like a close companion would.
God created you and I to walk closely with Him just like Adam and Eve. He wants us to find communion with Him in our daily lives. As we walk with Him, he shows us the path of life.
But do we always walk with God? If not, what leads us astray?
I was recently at a talk and the speaker referenced a few insights from a podcast she had listened to. One day, Eve got lonely. She was spending too much time alone, and she forgot that she was the Lord’s beloved. On that day, Eve sinned. She believed a lie that led her astray. She needed to take a walk with God and remember who she was.
I am Eve. You are Eve. We all are Eve. We forget that we are the Lord’s beloved, and instead we seek out love and fullness of life from the world. We believe the lie that we hunger for 'the piece of fruit' – whatever that may be in our lives – success, power, wealth, or human love and affection. We think that when we get it, we will be filled.
But we aren’t, are we? What we are truly hungering for is the infinite love of our God.
When we find ourselves caught in the grip of the world, we need to take a walk with God, that is, bring ourselves back into His loving presence so that He can remind us that His promises are far greater, better, and more fulfilling than the lies and promises of the world. An intimate relationship with God and continually remembering that we are His beloved is the goal of our lives, and what keeps us on the path of life in communion with Him.
