Jesus Breathed on Them
There’s a beautiful song by Hillsong called “Glimmer in the Dust.” It’s a song about finding God. Being lost in shadows and darkness, and finding His glimmer in the dust.
How many of us are surrounded by ashes and dust? Death and sin is all around us in our lives and in the world. Many of us are suffering or lost in one way or another, either through our own choices or the circumstances with which we are faced.
In the dust of our lives, the Lord promises that He is present. There is a glimmer of faith, hope, and love if we look closely and break it open. The song’s lyrics say “I found heaven in pieces, in glimmer and dust.” Isn’t that a beautiful depiction of how God works in our lives?
We find our treasure. We uncover heaven and we find God in the pieces of our lives - in the moments of wonder, awe, and joy and in the moments of death, loss, and suffering.
As we look at the recent natural disasters, the devastation that our brothers and sisters are faced with in the aftermath, we have seen that glimmer in the outpouring of prayer, love, and support from near and far.
Even in the gravest of situations, there’s a glimmer of God.
