Timelessness
Doctors took one look at the x-rays of a teen who'd been suffering from headaches and hallucinations all her life, and found that the cause was all in her head. It was a bullet lodged in her brain! The seventeen-year-old from Limoges, France, had been hit by a hunter's stray bullet when she was a baby. Her mother had noticed the bleeding head wound which the doctor simply bandaged up. Unfortunately, it's now too risky to remove the slug.
"Some people have all the luck" is a phrase we often hear. It's used by many who forget that not all luck is good luck. Everyone knows of persons who are handicapped from infancy through their entire life, like the girl with a bullet in her brain. What is often forgotten is that "luck" - good or bad - is a misnomer for Divine Providence. And only in the light of Providence is "luck" is always good. "'I know the plans I have for you, ' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you'" (Jer 29:11).
When we are under an avalanche of grief, the Lord sees it quite differently: "'Though the mountains be shaken and the hills removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken'...says the Lord who has compassion on you" (Is 54:10).
For the countless persons who have never gone to bed with a full stomach, or never known a pain-free day in their lives, the Lord has a recompense planned that will stagger them - eternally.
