Fatima - The Apparition that Changed the World Book Review

This book on the miracles of Fatima gives a clear timeline as to the apparitions three children experienced while living there. The book begins with a timeline to prepare you for the story that happened 100 years ago. The incredible life and death of the three children are thoughtfully written out. Lucia dos Santos, and her cousins, Francisco and Jacinta Marto were blessed with visions of Our Mother, Mary and were taught beautiful prayers by her that are depicted in this book. Mary came to these children to let the world know the importance of praying the rosary and praying for the conversion of sinners. Although only one of the children lived to continue the work of God, the other two children suffered greatly and readily in prayer to save souls. Our Lady showed the children a horrifying vision of hell, and said to them, “Pray for sinners, many go to Hell because there is no one to pray for them.”

This book is not only for Catholic’s familiar with the apparitions at Fatima but it is also for those that are new to the Catholic faith or have never heard the story of Fatima. The book has pages between the chapter’s that explain very important details that you may not understand. There is pauses in the book to help explain the Sanctuary of Fatima, The Immaculate Heart of Mary, The Five First Saturdays, and how Our Lady of Fatima protected the Pope. The author took great care in making sure we understood every aspect as we read one of the most important stories of our time. Besides providing us with an extortionary and accurate detail of the apparition that changed the world, the author also provides many pictures throughout the book. As someone who loves religious prints, I found myself stopping and meditating on the pictures in awe of their powerfulness. These photos are the most beautiful imagery of Fatima, the Children, and our Pope.

The book ends with more miracles credited to Fatima. Countless lives have been saved by other’s devotion to the message of Fatima and by praying the rosary daily. Our lady wants us to bring about world peace by turning to God and living out the messages sent to us.
