Imitation - The Highest Form Of Compliment
Microminature technology has produced a video camera hidden in fancy sunglasses with a pinhole lens in the nose bridge and find-wire cables snaking through the ear piece and shoulder strap to a belt power supply and belly bag recorder. It's a boon for security agents - and for those with less-noble motives as well!
Our best technology is nothing compared to the marvels of "God's hidden camera"; "The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good" (Prv 15:3). "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is...laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account (Heb 4:13).
For sinners, who would like to evade God's scrutiny, that truth is frightening, but for the righteous it's a blessing: "The eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him" (2 Chr 16:9) and "are on those...whose hope is in this unfailing love" (Ps 33:!8).
It is tremendously consoling to know that God is always watching us to see when and how he can provide strength for us in our weaknesses, but it is even more consoling to know that his eyes are on us while we are doing good works or praying. "The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer" (1 Pt 3:12), quoting Psalms 34:15). "Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you" (Mt 6:6).
