10 Miracles of Marriage

It occurred to me the other day, how much of a miracle it is just to wake up to the gift of another day of life! Then I pondered the double miracle that the man who poured the Grace of Matrimony on me, the man upon who I poured the Grace of Matrimony, wakes up next to me to the gift of another day. We are deeply blessed with four children, so then I pondered the cascading miracle of four little lives, products of our Sacramental love, waking up to the gift of another day. With a deep sense of wonder, I could hardly breath, considering this miracle.

So let us enjoy a Top 10 Miracles of Marriage that, after a measley 7 years of marriage, I'm beginning to really appreciate more deeply.

1. Discovering my spouse really will lay down his/her life for me.
2. Waking up next to my spouse... the first morning, the seven hundredth morning, the one thousandth morning, the two thousandth morning... I begin to understand why sunsets constantly maintain the miraculous.
3. Children... our own AND even if we never have children, the ministry/witness we create as a couple that points the world to Heaven.
4. Discovering the depth of emotion and love for another person.
5. How my spouse can make me laugh.
6. Grace from our Sacrament pours out when we need it most.
7. There's always something new to learn about my spouse...an adventure from childhood, a common enjoyment, a past hobby, a childhood friend, a future dream.
8. Finding ways to bear burdens (including washing dishes) together.
9. The power of just my spouse's presence. (Reminding me also of the power of Adoration)
10. The world still hasn't figured out a way for me to read my spouse's mind.
