From "French Fry Church" to a Church on FIRE!
[Below is an open letter to pastors and parish leaders.]
"Upon this rock I will build my church...." (Matt. 16:18)
A trademark of growing parish communities is the prevalence of faith-sharing groups. While it's wonderful some are engaged in such groups, most are not.
Are you open to an initiative that will make and grow missionary disciples in your parish, particularly if:
We are Image Trinity. We are comprised of an ever-growing number of parishioners and pastors. Our mission is to engage all in Imaging the Trinity. We want people to get LIT, which is to say, to Live IT. For nearly four years IT has been impacting individuals, marriages, families, and parishes.
It is working. Of those engaged, 95% report an increase in talking and praying in their homes. 91% report an increase in engagement in their parishes. 86% report an increase in inviting others to be engaged in their parish. What if this were a portrait of your parish community?
We're offering you the gift. We hope you'll receive!
Here's how it works: Identify at least one married couple in your parish who are evidently kindred as missionary disciples. Direct these to sign-up for the Live IT Marriage Mission Retreat led by Fr. Nathan Cromly on Saturday, January 13 at St. Joan of Arc in Toledo, Ohio. GO: MassImpact.us/LITMarriage
Not just another program. A way of life.
More than just “another event,” we’re asking participants of the retreat to be open to being LIT Group Leaders, that is-- to lead a 7 week season of LIT Gatherings in their home on a weeknight of their choosing. Once your couple is identified (and registered for the retreat if proximal), we will encourage them to identify four other couples (max) from your parish who will also commit to a 7-week "Season 1" of LIT Gathering during Lent.
As busy as couples are, most can commit to a seven-week season. On the seventh week all groups gather with their families for an uplifting evening of food, fellowship, word, witness and worship before the Blessed Sacrament we call SPARK / IGNITE. In your region, perhaps simply organize a meal and a time of adoration. New LIT Group leaders and members are engaged for the subsequent season of 7 weeks. IT grows!
Typically 7 weeks is all it takes. Groups proliferate as members come to discover the real, life-transforming impact of God's grace when "two or more" are gathered (Matt. 18:2). They come to regard LIT Groups not as "another program" but a way of life in Jesus Christ.
A number of parishes are engaging this initiative as a parish-wide offering during Lent. If you're interested in more details of LIT Groups, go HERE.
Please keep us in your prayers and be assured of prayer for you, all those in your parish, and all those whom God desires to be!
