Day 258 – The Road to Emmaus
Today’s reading: 1 Cor 15:35-58
In my opinion, this is one of the most joyful chapters of the New Testament. In it, Paul just made it clear to the Corinthians that the resurrection of the body is real. Paul says, “… and the dead shall be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.” What is particularly spectacular about this is that “we shall be changed”. That’s going to be much more than just losing a few pounds and regaining our youthful appearance. Paul compares our bodies to seed,s and seeds when planted grow into plants that look nothing like the seed they came from. Our bodies will be transformed and receive celestial glory. Our new bodies “will bear the image of the man of heaven” (Jesus). That means we can infer they might be something like the body the resurrected Lord appeared with. We will be able to walk through walls and move from place to place instantaneously. Little of the details of what our resurrected bodies will be like is known but you can bet that it will be glorious.
