Being A Good Shepherd
Again we receive ashes on our forehead,
Our outward sign to remember…
“That you are dust, and dust you shall return.”
Recalling the shortness of this life-
“Our life is over like a sigh,”
Leaving behind emptiness and pain;
Never believing today is THE day.
Stunned by the sound of an AR-15 rifle in a school-
Young boys, girls, teachers swept away like a dream;
“Like grass which springs up in the morning.
In the morning it springs up and flowers;
By evening it withers and fades.”
Psalm 90
Help us endure the storms and tempests of this world
So we may heal
And live in justice and peace.
