2022, A Time of Pandemic Loss
“The heart that turns away from anger and hate, regardless of justification,
And turns to love, is a forgiving heart.” S. Smith, Path of Potential
Ash Wednesday, 2018
Seventeen young people
Feel the sting of death,
Undeserved, unable to overpower evil.
Outraged, sorrowful communities rally;
Righteous anger, declaring never again.
Brokenness of spirit, of heart reign.
Where to turn? Who knows the answers?
Another One, 2018 years before
Who did no wrong, Christ left us an example,
Upon a cross lifted high above the earth,
Showing for all the way of forgiveness.
Though your chosen ones forgot You
You promised through Ezekiel,
“I will cleanse you. I will give you a new heart
And place a new Spirit within you.”
“Father, forgive them.” Showing by His love
The pathway moving forward toward wholeness-
The design upon which our feet must rest;
The arrow going forth into our hearts.
Jesus asks, “Do you WANT to be well?”
See my love, my mercy,
Encompassed upon the world.
This path, one must follow to a new, forgiving heart.
We answer, “Into your hands I place my trust;
Open my heart, make me humble in my plea.”
Without you, “I am drowned beneath your waves.”
With you I am lifted up into your love.
