When is Enough not Enough?
Easter 2018
Passion
Where it all began, the suffering He endured, the nails, the spitting, the very rejection of God who loves us and was willing to become our very sinfulness as the greatest sign from a Father who cares enough to send His Son as the payment towards the ultimate reunion of Creator and His Creatures; the Beatific Vision!
The Passion we know, we endured through Lent, our sacrifices and lamenting to bring us to our knees in supplication with “Mea Culpa” as our mantra to our Lord with tears and heartfelt repentance.
Resurrection
He now Is Risen reigning in Glory, the morn we awaited without understanding, until His chosen followers saw and believed. “It is true, said the women, the travelers to Emmaus, and the many who got to see Him at last;” the very words He spoke, “that the son of man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified, and rise on the third day.” “And they remembered His words.” (Lk. 24: 7-8).
Now, to us, each one who believes, no more wondering or doubt as to the Power of God to not only raise His Son Jesus Christ from the dead, but as a promise will also raise us all on the last day, where, 20 hundred centuries later, that our faith and trust in the words of the prophets, the proclamation from Isaiah, God’s Suffering Servant shall reign forever and we have found the One spoken of from time immemorial; He Is Risen! (cf Is. 52: 13 ff).
Into the Light
“What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race; (Jn. 1: 4). Tonight we enter in darkness into the light of baptism, “The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.” (Jn. 1: 5). This light overshadows the darkness before creation and becomes the true light which enlightens everyone; this light who is Jesus was coming into the world.” (Jn 1: 9).
The Easter Vigil Mass, a time of great exultation, as Catechumens prepare for their time of entrance into the most glorious moment; walking also through darkness led only by the Light of Christ, after sacrifice and study to become one with Christ, their sins forgiven, and new life abounding within their very beings; their souls now connected to Christ who died and rose for them. This is their time uniting their very souls to a Living Christ and entering into the Roman Catholic Church, not just as religious members, but as those who have become the elect and chosen ones that this day was made for.
Mystagogy
Come with us now, into a new life, beginning with Grace, a new-found faith, with so much to live as a new Christian, in the Catholic Faith, become ready to step forth with the Armor of God and the Breastplate of Righteousness as soldiers of Christ spreading the Good News of God’s Kingdom, through word and example. Be ready to step into the battle of the tactics of the Devil and the evil he will promote to all the world. (Eph. 6: 10 ff). This is the very meaning of your new life in Christ; be prepared to even die for the faith as so many martyrs before you have been called upon to do. This is Mystagogy where neophytes are lifted to new heights of God’s Grace through a deepened understanding of the mysteries of baptism, confirmation, and the eucharist as the continuing celebration of faith and conversion.
We have witnessed a most auspicious event that one can only hope for will be livened throughout their lives and grow richer each day until the moment they are called home. Would that we all could share this same calling, from darkness to light, to the Blood of Jesus Christ, to Resurrection, and life after, Amen!
