New days, New rules?
Last evening as the Sacrament of Reconciliation was administered throughout the Pittsburgh Diocese, I heard these words very clearly. My penance was to use them as a mantra (“……..may God give you pardon and peace……… ) and felt compelled to put them into a poem.
In the garden was my Lord forlorn,
He suffers, my sins led Him here;
He Pardons me of all derision;
A walk He’ll take for my Forgiveness.
The load he carries upon his shoulders,
This weight he bears, my name it says;
I’ll Pardon your sins, walk with me,
To this I’ll seek give me Faith.
His flesh is torn the nails go deep,
For you and more My Father calls Me;
O Lord I cry, why this so cruel,
As you are raised I ask for Grace.
God’s Son dies upon the cross,
Blood shed, so pure, redeems us all;
Our sins are Pardoned, free of death,
At last we can live, in enduring Peace.
