The Hunt Revisited
There is a 54 day novena being prayed for Ireland to keep in place its pro-life constitutional amendment. It began on Easter and will continue up until the day the people of Ireland go to the polls to cast their votes.
Pro-life communities throughout the world are watching what is happening in Ireland. Ireland is set to vote on May 25, 2018 on an attempt to repeal their constitutional amendment that gives citizenship to all preborn Irish babies. The Irish constitition can be changed by a simple majority voting to repeal it.
As Ireland has protection for the unborn already, the repeal vote will change their constitution to allow abortions up to twelve weeks into pregnancy, with the government reserving the right to add to that guideline at its whim.
The Irish press and others who support abortion rights, some of which received money and support from the international Open Society Foundation, have run a campaign targeting university students and women with stories of the hardships encountered by those women who travel to other nations for their abortions. The current prime minister, Leo Varadkar, is campaigning to end the constitutional protection for the unborn.
The May 25, 2018 date was selected to help get out the vote among college students before summer recess. Polls in the US have shown older people tend to vote more often than the youth, and tend to be less in favor of abortion on demand and for any reason.
Ireland's Eighth Amendment was put into place in 1983 and was influenced by what was happening in the US with abortion on demand. In the US, states were blocked from implementing laws like parental consent for minors seeking an abortion, and banning sex selection abortions. Today in America there is no restrictions on abortion throughout pregnancy and there is evidence of aborted fetal lungs and other organs being sold for profit to research facilities by abortion clinics in 2017.
The US Supreme Court approved abortion for all and any reason in 1973, overturning many states' laws banning abortion. The result has been over 58 million abortions in the US and no state has been successful in reigning in unbridled abortion or defunding abortion clinics which has recently won over 500 million US tax dollars in the recently passed budget through Medicaid payments.
Will the people of Ireland accept all that goes with legal abortion including: taxpayer funding, eventual late term abortions, lack of parental consent laws, sex-selection abortions, the sale of fetal body parts to federally funded researchers, a population death spiral, and doctors and nurses being pressured to perform abortions?
Whatever the press states in Ireland or what the politicians proclaim, the real truth is found in what has happened in the US, where abortion is a multi-million dollar business which has left battle scars on the women who were led to believe it would solve their problems.
The rosary has been used for centuries to protect nations as they faced outside forces that threaten to enslave them.
As well, invoking St. Patrick to protect the Irish preborn seems prudent.
The 54 Day Novena for Ireland is taking place now until May 25, and all that is required is that people offer up their daily rosaries for Ireland to keep their pro-life constitutional amendment.
