Romans 10 vs Protestantism
In a recent article, I asked this community to join me in prayer for more Trump Republicans to be elected during the upcoming midterms. I was surprised at how many purported Catholics objected at what they considered the mixing of politics and religion. As though the two are, somehow, mutually exclusive.
I think this idea derives from the so-called "separation of church and state" clause in the Constitution. But that idea has been twisted completely out of its original intent by the Left. It is not there to suppress religion expression. It is there to protect and uphold it. The separation of church and state says that the Government will not, will not decide how the American citizen will worship. It guarantees that the Government will not establish a state religion and force it down our throats. That includes "atheism". The Constitution does not permit the Government to force us to worship in any particular way, nor does it permit the Government to forbid us from worshipping in any way we please.
And that is the bottomline. Right now, the Left is trying to force people of faith to deny and reject their faith. They will not be satisfied until America becomes an atheistic socialist or communist nation.
For those of us who believe in God, our faith guides our political decisions.
Although the Constitution does not allow the Government to create a national church or religion, the fact is that the Founding Fathers could no more separate their faith from their politics and by extension, the nation they established, than we can. It is a simple fact that this nation was based on Christian principles and it functions best when it's citizens are Christian. John Adams said:
“[W]e have no government armed with power capable of contending
with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. . . . Our constitution
was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the
government of any other."1
and Charles Carroll, a Catholic who signed the Declaration of Independence, said:
"Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of
time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality
is so sublime & pure, [and] which denounces against the wicked eternal misery,
and [which] insured to the good eternal happiness, are undermining the solid
foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments."2
And that is absolutely true. This nation is built upon Judeo-Christian values. And it is time for Christians, especially Catholics, to stand up and make their voice heard.
The ungovernable
The Left has become the voice of disorder. The Left has become the voice of violence. The Left proudly calls out for people that are ungovernable. Let me show you what Scripture says about that:
Romans 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh are concerned with the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the spirit with the things of the spirit. 6 The concern of the flesh is death, but the concern of the spirit is life and peace. 7 For the concern of the flesh is hostility toward God; it does not submit to the law of God, nor can it; 8 and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. (New American Bible)
The Left does not submit to any law. Therefore they do not submit to the Laws of the United States which are based upon God's Laws.
IN CONCLUSION
What I'm trying to say is that, we, who believe in God, must not allow the Ungovernable to intimidate us into silence. We must make political decisions based upon, not in isolation from, our faith and morals. That is the only way that we, the People of this great nation, will be able to steer this country back to the path that was set by our Founding Fathers and by God, who gave them the wisdom to do what they did.
