We Need Christmas Because We Need a Savior

Why do we need Christmas? Because we need a Savior.

I think I have a new understanding of Advent and Christmas. Christmas is about salvation and Advent is a season in which we ask and wait for our Lord to set us free.

This Advent, what do you need to be set free from?

Recently, I came to recognize my own need for a Savior because I can’t set myself free. I can’t set myself free from the bondage. I can’t set myself free from my wounds. I can’t set myself free from my sins. I’ve tried and I can’t. But Christ can.

We can’t do this by ourselves.

Have you ever tried to overcome a sin without God? Have you ever tried to overcome a weakness on your own? I have. I failed...quite miserably.

We need a Savior. Only He can heal us. We need to be saved from ourselves -- from our sins, from our weaknesses, and from our brokenness. God knows that.

We need a Savior to deliver us.

We need a Savior to make us whole.

We need a Savior to heal us.

We need Christmas because we need Jesus. Come, Lord Jesus, and set us free.
