God Will Bring Healing. But in His Time, not Ours.
A few years ago I started a New Year's practice. Every New Year's Eve, I look at how God spoke to me throughout the year. I review items collected throughout the year, my journal, books I read, underlined Scripture in my prayer book, and insights from retreats. I sit down and reflect on all the ways God's moved in my life.
There's always at least one theme that emerges which God was trying to get my attention to hear. But often, there are many themes. I'm always surprised by how much God spoke to me, and what a presence He had in my life throughout the year.
This year, the overarching theme was: So much grace.
God poured out grace this year into my life.
He has been pouring grace out for the last couple years, but last year is when He launched me into new meaningful pastures of my career, ministry and service endeavors; a new vocation that is shaping and molding me in ways I never expected; and deeper relationships with Him and others.
This past year is when He finally showed me what life in Him is all about, and what surrender means for my life. The Scripture passages that once carried so many questions as to how they apply to my life, now have some answers.
What's your theme of the year?
What has God been trying to get you to see or hear? What has He been speaking to you? What graces has He given that you might have missed or didn't respond to? Finally, what does all this mean for the spiritual resolution(s) you should set in the new year?
