Creation, The Beginning
Unclean am I with unclean lips,
Living among people of unclean hearts,
Tasting wicked delights, laments Isaiah-
“Woe, am I”.
So too, cries Apostle Peter.
“Depart from me, Lord
For I am a sinful man.
How can I catch men for you?”
Paul, great Apostle to the world,
Began as one persecuting Christians;
Least of all, not fit to be called
“One of yours,” Lord of all.
The list goes on in every age-
Men struggle mightily against temptation.
Crafty devils in clothes like ours
Seek to destroy all weak, worldly souls.
Temptations beset the human body;
Though deep inside the human heart
Resides our crying Lord,
Begging each to pray for His grace.
He, with love for all He created,
Died as man, for man’s sins so great.
He rose above to His Father’s heaven;
Making there with Him, a space for us.
By His grace, given in Baptism; then
Engrafting in our souls His precious food,
Holy food of His sacred Body.
Thus Christ girds our mortal souls to Him.
Daily, one must fight the fight,
Pray unceasingly, so one may answer,
“Here I am, Lord; truly
I come to do your will.”
