I am a wife of 34 years and a mother of six grown children. I have been a stay-at-home mom for 30 years, having home schooled some or all of my children at various times for about fifteen years. I occasionally substitute teach at my favorite local Catholic grade school, and I have blogged at "A Catholic Mother's Thoughts" since 2006. I enjoy writing, politics, pro-life work, and most especially spending time with my family.

Some years ago I planted a dwarf hibiscus (Actually Hibiscus X Ruby Dot, I believe), also called Rosemallow, along my front sidewalk. Dwarf should mean small, right? I thought it might grow to be a foot or two. Well. It became a good three feet tall and probably had a diameter of about the same. It sprawled over the walkway, blocking a good portion of it.

Harambe, a silver-backed gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo was killed recently to protect the lif of a three-year-old boy who had fallen into the gorilla's enclosure. Thankfully, the little boy is all right, despite having fallen 15 feet into a moat and having been dragged repeatedly around by a 450 pound agitated gorilla.
